The Naked Fusion’s Organic Soaps to Quench your Thirsty Skin

A lot of things can change in a woman’s body during pregnancy, and one of the most affected if I may say is the skin.

I have always taken pride on how my Mom took care my sister’s and I’s skin through the years, and that’s what I envision in doing to my son now that I am a mother.

That is why it is very timely that I got to know The Naked Fusion.

Ever since I got pregnant, I have been obsessed with organic and natural products. I wondered if I actually lived under a rock for so long for not opting to use vegan and cruelty-free products, but hey, it’s not too late, is it?

The Naked Fusion is an organic brand of beautifully handcrafted soaps that are beverage-inspired. They have a wide array of soaps for all skin types. They are 100% natural, made with certified organics, cruelty-free and vegan.

GLAMOR

With continued use, it promises healing of irritated skin and other minor skin conditions. If you have extra sensitive skin, this is the perfect soap for you.

I also love how this soap can also be used for babies. I can’t wait to try this on Calum once he’s 6 months or older.

LUCENT

Best for: Normal | Sensitive | Mature and Dry

Like the wild tequila, Lucent will leave no trace of dryness. Empowered with the healing extracts of shea butter, aloe vera gel, and Himalayan pink salt, Lucent is bound to help you purify your skin with much moisture, while inhibiting sagging.

SAVVY

Best for: Normal | Sensitive | Mature and Dry | With Skin Conditions

Just like the refined whiskey-like skin, Savvy is fuelled with Acapulco extract, cocoa butter, and sandalwood essential oils that are great ingredients in healing minor skin diseases, fade out dark marks, and improve the elasticity of the skin.

I think this will greatly help my belly skin in recovering post-pregnancy.

ENIGMA

Just like the mysterious classic gimlet, Enigma is combined with the purifying benefits of activated charcoal, tea tree extract and aloe vera gel to help combat pimples, heal acne scars, and promote cell regeneration naturally.

FUSSY

Best for: Normal | Oily | Acne-prone skin

Carefully concocted as craft beer, Fussy prides itself with empowering ingredients such as goat’s milk, Himalayan pink salt, and bearberry extract that promise to lighten skin and improve its elasticity.

5 Clothes You Should Be Hoarding this Summer and What You Can Pair Them With

No doubt, that I’m unapologetically biased only to two seasons  in the Philippines – summer and Christmas!

Now while the cold and merriment is still so far off in the calendar, I would like to draw more attention to the season we’re currently at, and happily uncomplaining about!

IMG_1926-01.jpeg

Since I’m pregnant too, and very giddy to get my old body back, let me share with you some clothes that I’ve been dying to wear myself and believe will make your Instagram profiles worth more hearts and followers than they already have.

Here they are!

  1. A Graphic Tee

Graphic Tee

This is totally a classic! Nothing is more convincing for a laidack + chic combo than a top with happy colors and edgy figures. You can also pair it with shorts and white sneakers, or you can even wear a long tight skirt with a sexy slit to add more flare!

  1. Dainty and Frilly Romper

    Dainty and Frilly

Old rose or muted pink is just perfect for all skin colors! They complement every complexion, and scream sophistication. This number can be very versatile as well, just change your shoes and you can whisk your event from dawn to dusk!

  1. Bohemian Floral Dress

Bold Color with Mini Florals

This dress is also very flexible. You can opt to look girly or a little on the boho side. You can pair it with stappy sandals, blocked heels, criss-cross flats, booths, sneakers, you name it! Plus, it doesn’t hurt to wear a boater hat too, or would you rather wear a bow scarf instead?

  1. Striped Shirt Dress

Stripes

It actually depends how you would want to wear this one. As for me, I would definitely wear this as a dress. I can just wear a little denim shorts underneath, just to be safe! And I can pair it with a nice duo of black high heels, pony tail, gold hoop earrings and a bloody red lipstick. I like how all of these details put something so simple, yet so foxy.

Or if you’re a little conservative, you can always pair this with a posh acid-washed skinny jeans and some boldly colored flats, or taupe, whichever mood you’re in. J

But I would still recommend the ponytail. This way, your sexy shoulders can get the attention they truly deserve.

  1. Maxi White Floral Dresses

    Maxi White Florals

Maxi Formal

These ensembles can be perfect for beach trips and formal events. You can even wear one to a wedding, plus it doesn’t need too much accessorizing. Just a pair of little earrings and a nice bag and you’re good to go!

It would be awesome if you have these in your wardrobe already, but just in case this post gave you another reason to hoard some new clothes, you can always check ZAFUL to see their amazing collections!

Trust, it’s worth a look! 😀

So what are you waiting for, get hold of your summer ootds and SHOP NOW! 😀

5 Blogger Tips When Attending Media Events (and #CONNECT2018)

I have always been intrigued on creating a post like this.

Now, while I may not have the (acceptable) number of years about blogging professionally to be considered credible, I would just like to share some insights on what I have learned and observed in the several events I’ve been to, ever since Encyclopevia has made its name known to some brands and PRs, and as far as getting invited is concerned.

IMG_0912

IMG_0914

IMG_0969

A month ago, I was invited to attend #CONNECT2018. I soon realized it was a great opportunity for me to make new friends, and meet new people in the industry.

#CONNECT 2018: Festival of Stories is a bloggers’ party aimed to connect bloggers to bloggers, bloggers to brands, and more importantly, NGP to bloggers. This was a gathering to assemble, and foster a good working relationship among partner brand storytellers in the past, present, and future.

IMG_0927

IMG_0939

I haven’t worked with NGP in the past, so it would seem that the future just got brighter and more promising!

So here’s my take on what to expect, and observe whenever you go to blogging, media or PR events like this one. Again, I do not consider myself an expert; I am just merely creating a guide based on my experience. Or, pakialamera lang talaga ako. 😀

  1. Do consider if your blog relates to the brand or purpose of the event.

Like most invites I tend to ask myself first if it is worth going to, or if my blog fits the niche of the event. Of course you have to spend on fare and food just in case, so the affair must be something you can relate to and would love to write about.

IMG_0936

As for #CONNECT2018, I couldn’t be more excited. After beating my nausea episodes during my first trimester, I knew the event would be a great time to mingle and learn more about other creatives who share the same passion as I do.

  1. Be on time or cancel as early as you can, if you have to.

I’m guilty on this. I am not proud to say that I get late sometimes, but I know it’s something I have to improve on. As much as PRs are so kind and accommodating, I have also been in their shoes when I invited some media to our company’s event in the past.

It’s a little worrisome, because as a brand representative, you want things to be perfect and you don’t want your boss questioning your judgement on whether you invited the right people in the first place.

So, prepare early, leave early, prepare for the traffic jam!

**Note to self, and sharing to others. 😀

  1. Dress for the occasion and the venue.

IMG_0956

Of course you have to wear something nice, and appropriate for the event. While most people say comfort is key, I would like to press on to not compromising image as well. If you want to make a statement go ahead, it makes you more recognizable!

As for me, I’m still trying to keep whatever’s left of my red-orange mermaid hair. It makes me, Encyclopevia.

The venue is also as important as the outfit, because after all it dictates what type of clothing and shoes you’re going to wear.

IMG_20180317_191921.JPG

IMG_0917

Since #CONNECT2018 was held in Greenfield District, I didn’t have any difficulty coming up with an ensemble. And to tell you the truth, this was a first for me to party in Greenfield District.

DCIM100MEDIADJI_0006.JPG

I must say that life becomes truly exciting when one has everything they need right outside their doorstep – from everyday necessities, access to business and commercial venues, to a continuum of lifestyle options from restaurants, entertainment, shopping, or relaxation hubs.

The fusion of modern, convenient living coupled with the comfort brought by a nature-rich haven is the kind of lifestyle Greenfield District offers. Not to mention that it is located in Mandaluyong City, which is in between Makati and Ortigas – an ideal place that’s probably 30++ minutes away from all the attendees’ homes.

  1. Bring lots of smiles and business cards.

IMG_0947

IMG_1018

You’ll never know who you’re going to meet, so you might as well be prepared. And don’t forget to network. Plus, have your data checked, so you can easily add them on Facebook or follow them on Instagram.

IMG_0983

Through this, I was actually able to score more collaborations and partnerships via networking. It expands your circle, and allows you to be more exposed to opportunities you didn’t even know were even there!

  1. Don’t be that person who just goes because of the freebies.

While it’s actually something that’s making us more motivated to go to an event, I think it shouldn’t just be the only or the top thing we have to consider.

Tokens are relevant, but the experience is something you’ll never have, had you stay home. Freebies are just items money can buy, but the connections you’ll build, the friends you’ll make, and the knowledge and skills you’ll learn, those are priceless.

And remember, be friendly, some people may be as anxious as you, just relax, make friends and enjoy! 😀

You’re in a position not everybody gets to have. Be grateful, and make the most out of the opportunity!

Having said my piece, it’s making me more excited to attend #CONNECT2018’s upcoming blogger workshops, webinars, blog monetizing talks, online creative writing seminars , SEO, Google Analytics, and more! 😀

IMG_1023

So, see you in future events, and lets #CONNECT! 😀

Glupa Women’s Club On Expanding Each Other’s Queendom

IMG_20170628_152827-01.jpeg

I have always been a great supporter of women empowerment, and character development. I strongly believe that being a woman is strength in itself.

We have grown so much from the primitive beliefs that women are just born to take care of their children, and stay at home to manage a household. Over the years, we have already been recognized as a strong and essential contributor to the society’s integrity and continuous progress. That is why whenever I hear new stories about women taking over the world, I feel overjoyed and enriched with pride.

IMG_20170628_152532-02.jpeg

Flannery O’Connor, an esteemed American writer, and essayist once wrote a short story entitled

“Everything that Rises Must Converge.” It is a story reflective of the current issues during that time. It was written when innovation was a new concept, not every American was willing to accept. The story is about transcending the societal norms, veering away from traditions, expectations, pretensions, prejudices and the realization of what change can bring.

The title of the story was actually taken from a quote by French Philosopher and Jesuit priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. He wrote, “Remain true to yourself, but move ever upward toward greater consciousness and greater love!

At the summit, you will find yourselves united with all those who, from every direction, have made the same ascent. For everything that rises must converge.”

That is why it is so timely and unshocking to realize that a successful and inspiring woman is rising above the challenge and spearheading a breakthrough once again.

Age Defying Solutions founder and CEO Aiza Diuco strongly adhere to the belief that women should help each other rise by a cumulative effort of sharing their knowledge, perspective and skills to uplift better chances for every woman’s brighter future.

5MCA2990

She recently founded The Glupa Women’s Club, a club by women for women.

The young CEO will commence the club’s vision and purpose by holding a series of activities, including talks and workshops aiming to empower women and hone their skills as a vital member of the society.

She sees that this club can pave the way into returning her gratitude to the community that has helped her achieve her success.

Ms. Diuco also had her share of failures and hardships. She was not perfect. She remembers how much struggle she had to endure when she started in the beauty industry. She had to give up the comfortable lifestyle she grew up with, and fix the shattered pieces of her life as she went on to pursue her dreams.

5MCA3350

Ms. Diuco is grateful for her education, and experiences. She used these couple with her love for research in starting her own business.

There were some critics along the way that she had to deal with since they were extra haughty to discern that she only owes her achievements from her rich family. While she is grateful to her family, she has never forgotten the value of labor and not giving up.

Nevertheless, despite the criticism and bumps along the way, Ms. Duico can still stand up tall, with her head held high, knowing that Age Defying Solutions company is the product of all her hard work and the things she did to make her company grow.

Her business started from the backyard which has grown enormously over the years. She will always be grateful to good leadership and the best people she has worked with.

I truly admire people like her. While her story may not be rare, she is another living example that success is possible, that dreams do come true – if you strongly put your heart into it, and it knows no gender either!

Looking and Feeling Fine As I Reach 29

In less than 2 months, I’m turning 29. OMG!

I can’t believe I’m finally graduating my twenties and reaching the 30 mark very soon!

But since aging is inevitable, it doesn’t mean you can’t do anything that’ll help make you look a lot lesser than your published age.

And that’s what I did! 😀

I tried using Novuskin Lift to test and experience its anti-aging abilities.

It has Marine Fish Collagen, Grape Seed Extract, and L-Glutathione. It’s a food supplement so you need not worry about overdosing.

During the 3-month period, I have observed a lot of changes in my body, and I would like to share them in this post.

  1. HAIR

Can I just say that this is my number one concern among all of the following body changes? Since my hair was bleached a couple of times last year, it took some toll on my roots, that they became weaker.

IMG_20170708_131231

IMG_20170708_132122

Hairfall was suddenly a constant thing, which was why I am extra careful in combing my hair, especially after a shower.

BEFORE

IMG_20180222_102843.jpg

Wet bleached hair is the most difficult to style and handle, because any minute, you might go bald and sport a hairless patch on your scalp.

AFTER

IMG_20180222_103112.jpg

But as I was taking Novuskin Lift, I observed my hair fall was getting lesser and lesser that I became braver to comb my hair after a shower. This was such a relief.

  1. SKIN

Since late last year was pretty much spent on wedding planning, I hardly had time to go to skin clinics that I sooner developed breakouts, but using this product helped my pimples dry and heal faster. Plus, I hardly had breakouts after.

BEFORE

IMG_20180222_104706.JPG

Even though I spent sleepless nights crafting some wedding props, my under eyes weren’t as dark as they usually did post-“puyat”.

I also noticed that my arms and legs felt smoother and softer, despite not being so religious in applying moisturizers and lotion.

AFTER

IMG_20171217_115532.jpg

Having good skin is always a good alternative to makeup!

  1. ENERGY and APPETITE

I always had a low appetite especially during college, and you could say that this is a major reason why I never hit the normal weight.

To my surprise, I had more vigor in terms of eating, and I think this helped me look healthier. Not to mention, I was also able to fit better in my chosen wedding gown.

John+Via Wedding-345_preview.jpeg

And even though I lacked sleep, I was still able to function well the next day. It was as though I never run out of battery., which I believe is a good thing.

I can’t believe these changes just by taking Novuskin Lift.

IMG_20180220_171547.jpg

I am very happy to announce that these tablets do not just make you beautiful but healthier even! A perfect companion of course with a healthy diet and lots of exercise!

Happy and healthy ladies are always beautiful!

How to Get Beautiful Underarms for P250

It’s always every girl’s dream to have the perfect underarms. The kind of pits you would always want to show off and parade whenever, wherever. The kind which does not dictate your fashion as when you can or cannot wear sleeveless.

But busy schedules get in the way, especially when you cannot properly allot the time to go to a waxing salon and hair removal clinics.

Believe me, my planner gets too colorful being jotted down by work and events, that I barely have time to go and receive my well-deserved waxing treatments.

Next thing you know, my monthly visitor is here already! Waaah! Another week to endure waxing delay.

Given that hair removal is just one step to beautiful underarms, I would just like to share some other tips that we can do to achieve the perfect pits we’ve always been craving for.

  1. Don’t shave. Ever.

I have known this before I even grew hair in my underarms. Having such a vain and beauty-conscious mother is such a blessing! Hehe :p

underarm_shaving_happy

Shaving takes away the outermost layer of one of the most sensitive skin in our body, and prompts the underlying tissues to react and produce a tougher and darker skin.

“When skin is irritated, an inflammatory reaction ensues, which stimulates pigment-making cells (melanocytes) to generate more pigment, causing the skin to become darker,” says Baton Rouge, LA, dermatologist Ann C. Zedlitz, MD.

  1. Avoid wearing tight clothes, especially if you just had your underarm hair removed.

Tight clothes inhibits the natural growth of hair follicles causing them to go back to the skin and harbor bacteria. This is one of the reasons of painful ingrown hair.

Wearing body-fitting clothes, especially those under your arms can cause irritation, sweating, and skin friction.

  1. Exfoliate underarms with natural ingredients.

Lemon and Sugar

sugar lemon

Take a bowl, mix 2 teaspoon of granulated sugar and 1 squeezed lemon juice. Apply the mixture to your underarms, and wait for 10 minutes until it dries.

Gently scrub your armpits for around 2minutes then rinse with lukewarm water.

This home-made exfoliant rids your underarms from dead skin cells, smoothens texture, and removes dark-skin-causing bacteria, leaving a more supple and bright pits

Potato Slices

potato slices

Soak potato slices in a bowl of water for 2 minutes. Rub them to your underarms after.

Potatoes have natural bleaching properties that helps in promoting bright underarm skin.

Yoghurt and Orange Peel

Yogurt-With-Orange-PeelIn a bowl mix 2 tablespoon of fresh yoghurt and some dried orange peel powder.

Apply the concoction to your underarms and let it to dry for about 15 minutes. Wait for it to dry completely, then rinse with cold water and apply some moisturizer.

This brightens your underarm keeping it moisturized and supple. Yoghurt’s lactic acid eliminates the skin discoloration.

  1. Avoid aluminum and parabens in your deodorant and antiperspirant.

If your underarms have become a bit red, swollen, bumpy and irritated, kindly check your antiperspirant to see if there are any aluminum ingredients in it; because it is one of the ingredients available in most underarm products that highly causes breast cancer among its users.

antiperspirant

Antiperspirants basically block your sweat, which is the unnatural thing to do. We need to sweat to rid off bacteria and toxins from the body. The aluminum salt in most antiperspirants block your pores and keep you dry, but this could also irritate your skin.

The yellowing of our shirts in the underarm area is actually the stain left by the reaction of the aluminum contents with the urea (waste products from the body) in our sweat.

Antiperspirants that contain alcohol may also be too drying for some people’s skin, which can lead to irritation, as can any ingredient that ends in “-paraben” (such as methylparaben).

  1. Use natural or organic underarm skin care.

To be honest, I really had a hard time finding a natural deodorant before, but I recently saw this wittily named product that can be the answer to our underarm woes.

Pits Perfect is an all-natural deodorant spray. It whitens, fights odor-causing bacteria, leaving you fresh, cool and clean.

Don’t even start with its fragrance. It reminds me of the scent of citrus fruits and flowers combined.

I have been using Pits Perfect for a month now, and my underarm skin condition improved greatly. My chicken skin is actually smoother now, compared before.

They have clearly settled that Pits Perfect is not an antiperspirant, because the brand actually adheres to sweating, reasoning that it’s healthier and natural.

And the best thing about this is it doesn’t have parabens and aluminum content!
I just apply 2-3 sprays per underarm, and I’m smelling fresh all day! I don’t even need to use perfume! 😀

And can you believe that this is just P250.00?

You can check Pits Perfect in Facebook and Instagram.

  • Scent can be improved

I have read different results from other users, so I guess it would still vary depending on  your skin’s properties and PH.

But overall, I love this beauty set! It may not be perfect on all sides, but they have given me wonderful results!

The main takeaways for this is that my blemishes faded a great deal, and I have a brighter and clearer skin! Pimples hardly appear anymore! 😀

Organic Beauty by Herbal Soap Philippines

Ever since I learned how some ingredients in beauty products can be dangerous, I tried to begin a quest in search for the best organic alternatives in the land.

It’s like finding vegan spritz in a sea of a pork market. Pretty difficult, huh? Not to mention they come in real pricey tags! So what does a girl got to do?

Good fortune I call it. I happen to meet the founder of Herbal Soap Philippines, and you could imagine how happy my invisible fins were, knowing they have a huge arsenal of organic cosmetics!

IMG_20170825_174924

One of my big hurdles in beauty is maintaining my mermaid red-orange hair. The strands have faded quite a bit, and my natural roots are starting to show. Looks like sunset and darkness in one field, but mostly I just look like a choco-butternut doughnut! Hehe 😛

Combing a freshly washed bleached hair is a nightmare. My hair is unruly, and they rebel by means of falling. 😦

IMG_20170825_174919

IMG_20170825_174553-01

Good thing I found these!  Herbal Soap Philippines’ Natural Shampoo and Conditioner feels mild on my hair, and they make it very easy to comb!

I use my fingers in combing my hair, and surprisingly, the strands are very easy to manipulate now!

Ingredients include aloe vera extract, tea tree extract, argan oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, and virgin coconut oil.

These special carrier oils are naturally produced and are perfect in maintaining manageable, soft and silky locks! Their moisture-inducing properties help make our mane their best versions ever!

I also had the chance to try their soaps, and so far this is my favorite! It is the Natural Whitening Soap, made of papaya, arbutin, licorice and bearberry, essential ingredients to restore my natural color, and fade dark spots on my skin!

IMG_20170825_174223-01

Their Natural-Antibacterial Soap is made of tea tree, lemon grass, acapulco and guava. My little pimples started to dry with continuous use!

The Natural Mosturising Soap out of goat’s milk, shea butter, aloe vera and cucumber is perfect for our dry skin. You can even leave the house without putting on lotion anymore.

I am amazed how the Natural Slimming Soap is making me sweat more than usual. I believe this is ideal to use before working out so that you are dreaded to burn more calories! It is made of seaweed and snail cream!

IMG_20170822_150802-01IMG_20170822_150659-01

My locks are more manageable now! And I get to enjoy the sun without worrying too much about my hair’s health!

They smell very natural as well! So occasional floral and grass scents are to be expected merfriends!

I absolutely love Herbal Soap Philippines’ products! And I will always swear by the organic! 😀

My Vivere Salon Glorietta Experience with Hairstylist JC Espiritu

Two months ago I decided to dye my hair rose gold but got out with ginger hair instead. If you happen to read my post about it, you might get a flashback. 🙂

But what seemed to be a mistake, turned out to be a unexpected blessing! Because with this new hair color, people recognize me more!

(April 2017)

I remember one time when I was eating in Trinoma, a friend passed by the glass window and immediately caught sight of my hair. She wondered if it was really me! Haha It was! 😀

In Gateway, I was walking on the grounds surrounding the coliseum, when a friend got out of a nearby restaurant and approached me. Whenever there’s a blog event or a speaking engagement, people call me “Via” already, without asking for my name! It’s crazy! 😀

Via Galang 2

(April 2017)

So I guess ginger hair helped me in more ways than I expected. I haven’t even thought of it as a part of my branding. 😀

My publicist actually advised me to maintain it, because it has provided me an extension of my brand as a blogger and as a shoe designer.

And of course, we know that a lot of things don’t lasts forever, especially hair color and length. As my hair grew longer (as if it’s not long enough),  the roots are starting to show, and the once highly pigmented strands is beginning to fade.

That is why it was so timely that I got to visit Vivere Salon in Glorietta, and have my much-awaited hair retouch and makeover!

I booked an Uber to Glorietta 2, and surprisingly I found the salon too soon than I thought I would. It’s on the  3rd floor, in front of Electro World.

I love how posh their salon is. It even has this geometric design I am so crazy about! 😀

Since my hair color was actually just an accident, it may be difficult to duplicate. The original hue wasn’t red, or orange, or pink, it seems like a fusion of all 3. The tint changes magnificently in different levels of lighting.

My favorite was the one under a yellow misty light in Francis Libiran’s Fashion Show. It had a rich, romantic and regal tinge to it.

So this is my hair that needs all the love it can get!

JC Espiritu, the resident Senior Hair Stylist in Vivere Salon Glorietta worked his magic in creating the color I wanted. He posed some techniques about the duration of the bleaching cream on my crowning glory, and some hairstyling words that sounded alien to me.

IMG_20170708_120938

I specifically told and showed him that I have to achieve THAT certain color because it’s part of my self-branding. People recognize me to have that red-orange hair color.

Ms Eveb (Junior Hair Stylist) helped me bleach my hair roots until they turned corn yellow. The rest of my mane has already been bleached previously, so there was no need for additional creams.

The concoction was painful as expected, but I didn’t mind. All for beauty!

I got my hair washed, and I swear I look like an easter egg here! I was actually in doubt whether I should upload this, but hey, we all got flaws! Haha 🙂

After an hour or less, my hair was ridden off the cream, and had to be blow dried. Honestly, I didn’t mind going out of the salon with a gradient yellow to orange hair!

I look like a total walking sunset in this! But, the process isn’t finished yet, so I have to stay seated.

This was the time Sir JC showed me the hair dye emulsion. They particularly look like the pigment I wanted, so I was so excited!

He said, “Ms Via, nag-magic ako!”

(Redeeming my egg face with this tilted lying-shower-pose! Haha 😀 )

It was Sir JC’s idea to have my eyebrows dyed as well. They turned shades lighter as in!

My “kilay is life” game looks more appealing, and suiting for my raspberry hair!

True enough, his potion-skills were excellent!

I didn’t just get the color I wanted, it was even better! 😀

I have never wanted a hair color so much in my life! Not to mention, that finally, there is a salon that exists that can actually make your hair color dreams come true!

My signature hair is BAAAAAAACK!

And it’s better, red-oranger, gingerer, mermaid-ier and Ariel-er! 😀
